JOB PURPOSE
Play a key role in constructing various structures made of wood, metal, concrete, and other materials. Your expertise in carpentry techniques, measurements, and joinery will be vital for tasks such as framing, installing doors and windows, and constructing formwork. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Position reports to: Carpenter Foreman or Superintendent
COMPETENCIES
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine project requirements and material needs.
- Construct and install formwork for concrete structures and slab on grade, following design specifications. (Symons, Meva, Peri, EFCO)
- Construct and install frameworks, including walls, support decks, floors, and roofs, ensuring accuracy and alignment.
- Equipment installation (Pumps, Clarifiers, Screens etc.).
- Setting of Gates, Handrail, and Misc Iron.
- Use of Builders Level/ Laser.
- Collaborate with other construction team members to coordinate carpentry activities and ensure efficient workflow.
- Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear at all times.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues to supervisors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
None required.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Must have valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb and balance. Must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell, and use hands to finger, handle, and feel. May need to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. The following are the vision requirements for the job: physical, close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
