Distribution/Collection Foreman

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Distribution Collection Superintendent, provides supervision over specific projects related to Water/Wastewater activities. This position is a working foreman position. Incumbent must use judgment and common sense in making field related decisions. Position involves frequent contact with the public, which requires considerable tact and judgment.

Typical Duties:

  • Assists Distribution Collection Superintendent in the supervision of repairs maintenance of water/wastewater, work, and other related problems.
  • Operates equipment and drives trucks when needed.
  1. Has schedule flexibility and proficiency to work after-hours on a rotating basis, if

assigned. If assigned, coverage of these additional after-hours duties may be

compensated for by additional overtime pay and/or compensatory time, according

to the approved pay schedule for these assignments.

  1. Assists with inventory of materials used.

  2. Supervises and assists in training of employees to operate equipment and other work.

  3. Assists in inventory of tools and replacement of tools as needed.

  4. In the absence of the Distribution Collection Superintendent, provides supervision over

all water distribution and wastewater collection activities.

  1. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years increasingly responsible experience in water/wastewater related maintenance or construction.
  • At least two (2) years' experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A Class "A" CDL Commercial Driver's License required with air brakes and trailer endorsements to haul heavy equipment.
  • Must have a good driving record.
  • Knowledge of Water and Wastewater repair and maintenance.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Class "C" distribution and a Collection II Wastewater
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Work Environment:

This position primarily involves working in a field environment. Will be working around heavy construction equipment. May be exposed to odors and fumes while working with chemicals. Will be exposed to adverse/inclement weather conditions while working outside. May work variable hours and or weekends.

Physical Condition:

Must be able to bend, climb and squat to perform duties. Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Must have dexterity with fingers and hands to operate hand tools and small equipment. Must be able to smell odors and fumes. Maintain physical condition necessary for walking and standing for prolonged periods of time in extreme conditions. Hearing and vision must be satisfactory to the degree that duties may be performed effectively and safely.

Miscellaneous Information

The City of Granbury offers a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience. The city participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) at a 7% employee deposit rate with a city matching ratio of 2:1. The city pays 100% of the employee's medical insurance and term life insurance. Full-time employees receive 40 hours of vacation at 6 months, then accrue each pay period based on the number of years employed up to 160 hours. 48 hours of Sick leave at 6 months, then accrue 3.70 hours each pay period. Full-time employees are eligible for 14 paid holidays. A full range of insurance benefits is also provided to full time employees. The city also provides a 9/80 work schedule where employees have every other Friday off.
