Assistant Project Manager / Estimator - Commercial Construction
Job Description
Overview
The Assistant Commercial Construction Project Manager / Estimator (“APM”) supports the Commercial Project Manager in estimation, and the oversight of many of the duties and tasks that must be accomplished relating to construction, renovation, or restructuring of a property. The APM must be organized and able to work with sub-contractors and other employees, particularly Commercial Superintendents. The position requires an understanding of each phase of the construction process, and must possess the ability to communicate with architects, clients, vendors, and employees. This position requires extensive experience in all areas of construction. The APM must also be able to multitask and help manage sub-contractors and staff on multiple project sites.
Responsibilities
- Estimate prospective projects; review bid documents, develop scopes of work and estimate third party and own-force resources that will be required to complete the project.
- Prepare documentation such as scope of work, contracts, purchase orders, and budgets.
- Help organize and manage staff, contractors, and schedules for construction projects.
- Assist with reporting, including project progress, tracking metrics, and updating equipment logs.
- Provide administrative support to on-site Supervisor (Superintendent), to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Work with superintendents to plan, organize and direct Construction activities.
- Work with Construction Project Manager and contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with customer.
- Adhere to policies, procedures and performance standards consistent with company policy and contract specifications.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 3 years minimum commercial construction management experience, 5 years preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
- Available for on-call, early morning or late hours handling project needs
- Full-Time position 40+ hours per week (8AM-5PM)
- Travel to and from multiple job sites
- Valid Driver’s License
- Be able to pass a drug test
- Be able to pass background check
