Long-term handyman wanted for pier operations.

Makai Ocean Engineering, a marine research and development company, is looking for a handyman, hired as a contractor, to work at Makai Research Pier in Waimanalo, Oahu. The individual will be responsible for ongoing maintenance at the pier which may include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and rust mitigation. The candidate should have reliable transportation (preferably a truck), excellent communication skills, and be able to work during normal business hours (8:00am-4:30pm).

You should have hands-on knowledge of multiple trades including, but no limited to:
Painting
Carpentry
Drywall repair and remodel construction
Minor electrical
Minor plumbing and sewage
Deck and fence repairs

Typical responsibilities include:
Use of own vehicle to purchase construction materials (mileage will be reimbursed).
Be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
Ability to work independently.
Initiative to maintain the highest standards of quality.

Upcoming projects include:
Painting over and/or removing graffiti.
Replacing A/C and drywall in a small area.
Installing door closers and thresholds.
Repairing siding and deck dry rot and painting.
Concrete patch.

Candidates will be hired as a contractor who maintains their own liability insurance. Consistent hours can be agreed on or a more flexible schedule. Please send responses describing your rate, experience, and photos of work if possible.
