Job Title: Civil Engineer
Job Description
The Civil Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for structural design of assigned Military projects or portions of Civil Works projects. This role involves designing reinforced concrete and structural steel framed buildings, concrete gravity dam sections, gates, retaining walls, building foundations, bridges, and other complex structural engineering assignments. The engineer will assist in preparing structural designs and specifications for new construction, renovations, and repairs of conservation projects, as well as conducting structural surveys addressing natural resource protection issues. The role includes reviewing, coordinating, and monitoring technical aspects of projects from design to completion, ensuring technical soundness and meeting user needs, conducting design reviews of internal and external designs, and developing independent government estimates.
Responsibilities
- Serve as subject matter expert for structural design of assigned projects.
- Design reinforced concrete and structural steel framed buildings and other structures.
- Assist in the preparation of structural designs and specifications for new construction, renovations, and repairs.
- Conduct structural surveys to address natural resource protection issues.
- Review, coordinate, and monitor technical aspects of projects from design to completion.
- Develop and complete engineering projects involving construction, modification, alteration, and renovations.
- Ensure structures or facilities are technically sound and meet user needs.
- Perform design review of internal and external designs.
- Develop independent government estimates for projects.
- Produce complete contract packages including estimates, drawings, and specifications.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in professional engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
- Current registration as a professional engineer licensed to work in Oklahoma.
- At least 7 years of experience in civil engineering.
- Knowledge of design for Department of Defense facilities.
- Ability to perform structural designs incorporating progressive collapse and blast proofing.
- Knowledge of structural design for inspection services for Federal and State facilities and dams.
- Familiarity with Internal Building Code, NFPA Life Safety Code, ASCE 7-10, ACI318-11, AISC 360, UFC 3-301-01, and UFC 3-310-04.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Project Schedule.
- Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BSCE degree.
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience.
Work Environment
The role requires physical activity, including lifting less than 50 pounds, standing for long periods, walking over rough terrain, and recurring bending, crouching, stooping, and stretching. The position involves exposure to dust and outdoor conditions, including wind, rain, cold, and hot weather. Work locations may be remote sites, and work hours may include night shifts and weekends. Safety and protective clothing, gear, and equipment are required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr.
