Job Description
This position involves conducting on-site observations to monitor progress and quality of work according to contract documents, serving as the engineer's liaison with the contractor, maintaining adequate records, reviewing contractor's applications for payment, and other duties as assigned. The role primarily focuses on construction and rehabilitation projects for municipal water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.
Responsibilities
- Remain on the job site for the entirety of the project's construction.
- Maintain detailed reports of progress and contractor's compliance with the progress schedule.
- Review progress schedule, shop drawings, sample submittals, schedule of values, and other contractor submittals.
- Attend meetings with the contractor, including preconstruction conferences, progress meetings, and job conferences.
- Comply with site safety programs.
- Assist the engineer in serving as the owner's liaison with the contractor, obtaining additional details or information as required.
- Review applications for payment with the contractor for compliance with established procedures.
- Forward any recommendations to the assigned engineer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Construction inspection experience on water and wastewater projects, including potable water line installation, sewer installation, pump stations, lift stations, and treatment plant construction.
- Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience of 2+ years in construction inspection or RPR work for potable water line installation, sanitary sewer line installation, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and lift stations.
- Knowledge of testing procedures for water/sewer pipe installations, including pressure testing, air testing, hydrostatic testing, disinfection testing, vacuum testing, and mandrel testing.
Work Environment
This role requires travel throughout the State of Indiana and may involve overnight stays. The work environment includes working out in the field in all weather conditions, using personal vehicles with mileage reimbursement. Accommodation such as hotels or apartments will be provided when necessary. The position is contract-to-hire, lasting 9 months, with standard construction hours from 7 AM to 4 PM, and potential overtime up to 50+ hours as needed. The work involves being part of a team of 25-28 Resident Project Representatives managed by the Construction Manager.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $37.72/hr.
