Overview

Candidate will perform Overhead Crane Operations in support of submarine construction, maintenance and repair. Candidate must be willing to work off-shifts and overtime assignments to support production and key events.

Reading and writing are basic skills necessary to comprehend department instructions, special procedures, and work documents. Written proficiency exams are required to document instructions and competencies covering operational characteristics controls and emergency responses to the crane type for which the qualification is obtained.

Candidates must be able to pass Electric Boat crane operators physical examination. Applicant must be able to work at various heights or in confined spaces. Electric Boat overhead bridge cranes range in size from 5 ton to 280 ton with multiple crane blocks.

Applicant will be required at times to lift loads using two cranes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience with heavy machinery or a related field.
  • Knowledge of hand signals per ASME B-30
  • Candidate will be required to climb ladders and work at heights over 100 feet
  • Ability to pass an initial and yearly crane operators physical
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance
  • Available for all shifts

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Crane Operator Certification from a recognized authority (eg. NCCCOP, State, Military, P-307 or Electric Boat)
  • Familiarity with applicable ANSI/OSHA/B-30 series standards governing crane operators
