Job Description:
Architectural Designer .
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and architectural design plans for transportation and infrastructure-related structures in conformity with project requirements under supervision of licensed architect. Assigned projects include the design of public and municipal buildings, maintenance facilities, and other transportation and infrastructure-related structures in compliance with ADA standards, LEED certifications, and local building codes. Perform design computations and data compilation; assist in initial program and design development in coordination with other engineering disciplines and sub-consultants; develop detailed architectural plans and specifications and/or supervise their execution; perform BIM operations, including 2D drafting, parametric 3D modelling, designing/maintaining BIM and CADD symbols, design options, and document sequencing and phasing; develop and maintain design and technical Revit or Vectorworks models to coordinate project development through initial design phase to production of accurate bid/construction drawings; pr epare estimates, schedules and quantity take-offs as required; analyze design and assembly and material systems, design layouts, and construction features by researching, compiling and recording information; develop and maintain BIM workflows to ensure conformity with project requirements and applicable codes, including Mass. State Building Code 780, CMR 521 and ADA ; conduct periodic site and construction inspections to monitor compliance with plans; prepare interpretive reports based on results of site visits for review and approval; review and provide feedback for contractor issued RFIs and submittals, including on security issues and operations; provide input into code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions for design layouts and construction features. Position duties require extensive utilization of design and modeling software, including Revit or Vectorworks, SketchUp, Enscape, and V-Ray, and 2D visualization platforms including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and project management tools including Procore . Position based in Boston, Massachusetts; may work at home up to 3 days per week, subject to change at any time. Position duties require approximately 10% travel time to project sites within Massachusetts.
Minimum requirements: Bachelors degree in architecture, followed by a minimum of two years of experience in the position offered, and LEED certification. Also requires design portfolio demonstrating the ability to create architectural designs for transportation-related infrastructure projects and public and municipal buildings suitable for the companys architecture and engineering projects.
