Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for a Senior Groundwater Project Manager who will support environmental groundwater projects for RSIs Office of Legacy Management (LM) contract and associated Groundwater Program. Their primary duty is successful management of a portfolio of projects with groundwater compliance strategies for DOE-LM CERCLA/RCRA and UMTRCA sites where former uranium processing/mill operated in the 1950s and 1960s. The sites are located throughout the continental US. As part this effort, the Senior Project Manager will plan and manage projects and teams, consisting of professionals of various disciplines, through different project phases including scoping, work planning, field characterization, remedial alternatives analysis, and compliance strategy development. Planning and managing also includes preparing statements of work for subcontractors, managing subcontractors, and conducting readiness review and integrated work control process meetings to support field projects. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for technical quality, client relationships, schedules, budget development and management, and safety throughout execution of every project.

Hiring Range: $ 120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicants education, training, and experience.)

This position is required to travel 5-10% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage the technical and administrative aspects of environmental projects under UMTRCA, CERCLA, RCRA and/or state regulatory programs.
  • Responsible for technical quality, client relationships, schedules, budget, and ensure work is executed safely.
  • Lead scoping, project and lifecycle planning, execution, and closure of projects.
  • Manage the investigation/characterization, remedial alternatives evaluations, design, remedy implementation/construction, operations and maintenance and/or long-term monitoring phases of the regulatory program processes.
  • Direct, manage, and lead project teams, including subcontractors, to meet project objectives in-line with company and customer quality expectations, and project scope, schedule, budget requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, community members, project team members, and company management.
  • Effectively identify and manage project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies.
  • Supervise and provide work assignments to the project team; develop and mentor staff.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines and with clients to articulate and achieve project goals.
  • Mentor junior scientists and project managers.
  • Writing and preparation of technical and other relevant documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering or related field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • 15 + years or relevant experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute environmental groundwater projects in accordance with CERCLA/RCRA, UMTRCA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ability to review documents electronically.
  • Ability to conduct site safety briefings and follow all DOE/LM/RSI policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and communicate fundamentals of groundwater flow and transport, hydrogeologic conceptual site models, and groundwater remediation.

Essential Physical Requirements

Light: Work involves moving objects by exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job/occupation is rated for light work when it requires (1) a significant degree of walking or standing, (2) mostly sitting while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls, or (3) working when the weight of the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production-rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible).
