Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 17,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has 1 early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 th 12 th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly responsible to the Director of Operations and/or his designee.
Responsibilities :
- Must have the knowledge and ability to operate and maintain hot water and steam boilers and related
- systems including but not limited to radiators, pumps, valves, steam traps, condensate pumps, pressure
- vessels, converters and safety valves. Must be able to troubleshoot, operate and maintain associated
- equipment. Must be able to trouble shoot, operate and maintain pneumatic and electronic control
- systems. Must be able to install, maintain and repair electrical devices and related electrical equipment.
- Must be able to operate and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- To perform other job duties as assigned by the director of Operations, supervisory personnel or his
- designee, such as snow plowing.
- The following specific duties are typical but not necessarily all of the duties involved in this position.
- Employees currently employed in these positions will when necessary be provided training to enable
- them to do work assigned for which they feel they are not qualified. Current employees and new
- employees will be expected to be able to perform 80% of the specific duties listed without further
- training.
- Maintain all hand and electric operated tools.
- Make repairs to boilers and related equipment on a routine or emergency basis.
- Must install drains and drain lines.
- Repair steam, hot water and cold water lines.
- Repair faucets, valves and traps.
- Calibrate thermostats and controls.
- Repair motors, controllers, and other electrical devices.
- Troubleshoot and make repairs to electrical circuits and equipment.
- Must use test equipment including amprobe and multitester.
- Must work with single phase and three phase.
- Must operate and maintain swimming pool and associated equipment.
- Must repair and maintain kitchen and cafeteria equipment.
- Must perform general maintenance duties as assigned.
- Must be able to drive snowplowing equipment and delivery vehicles.
- Must be able to respond to after hour emergencies.
- Must be in good health and perform all jobs assigned.
- Must be able to climb and adjust to heights.
- Must have a working knowledge of all tools and equipment to perform tasks listed above.
- Must have knowledge of electricity, heating, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing and
- carpentry.
- Must have knowledge of National Electrical Code.
- Must be qualified to work in a school environment.
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Must be safety conscience.
- Must maintain proper hygiene and appearance.
- Must be willing to participate in continuing education programs.
- Must have three (3) years practical experience and/or training in low pressure boilers and associated equipment or a related field. Formal training from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience.
- Must have an understanding of air conditioning and refrigeration and knowledge of support equipment.
- Must be able to obtain a CDL license, if required.
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be able to layout and plan work assigned.
- Must work in a safe manner with tools.
- Be able to understand written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to work harmoniously with others.
Work Environment: Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
Education: College degree preferred. Specialized trade certifications and licenses will be taken into consideration.
Safety: The employee is responsible for taking any and all steps necessary to protect yourself and others against occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
Terms of Employment: Twelve months.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
