Job Description:
The Electrician/HVAC Technician will perform skilled electrical maintenance duties in the inspections, repairs, installations and alterations of electrical systems and related equipment and facilities; perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain emergency generators.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including voltmeters, ohmmeters and ammeters.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management system concerning work assignment, and preventative maintenance task.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, trade school, or GED, required.
- Three to six years of experience as a skilled Electrician or HVAC Technician preferred
- Licensed electrician, preferred.
- Willingness to perform other duties, shifts and task regardless of trade as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to work from ladders, scaffolds and rooftops of buildings as well as the ability to work in tight spaces such as tunnels and attic spaces. Requires the ability to bend, stoop, lift 50 pounds, carry objects heavier than 50 pounds, and lift objects from ground to waist or overhead level
- Must be able to detect abnormal noises, feel size, shape and temperature or texture of objects with the hands, handle hot or cold objects, judge depth, see and discriminate colors, stand much of the time, work while wearing protective equipment (respirators, hoods, etc.), work in dust, oils, fumes, or smells, work in both high and low temperatures
