What You'll Be DoingJob Scope:
Hargrove is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team and play a key role in supporting operations, maintenance, and capital projects within a nitrogen fertilizer facility. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering experience in the oil, gas, or chemical industries and demonstrates leadership in both technical execution and project team supervision.
This role will be instrumental in improving plant performance, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Lead the development, design, and execution of capital and reliability projects.
provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance teams
Propose improvements to work procedures that enhance operational efficiency
Help develop and implement Key Process Indicators and performance monitoring tools
Collaborate with departments including Safety, Environmental, Operations, Maintenance, Accounting, and Purchasing
Manage vendor and contractor communication, selection, and supervision
Support critical field work and provide technical guidance on complex repairs
Develop equipment specifications and support technology selection and bid evaluations
Ensure timely review of drawings and Management of Change (MOC) documents
Participate in equipment inspections, safety reviews, and process hazard analyses (PHA)
Support facility turnarounds, including 24 hour coverage and process callouts
Maintain consistent communication with leadership on progress, issues, and needs
Operate safely near combustible materials and hazardous chemicals
Ideal Background
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering in oil, gas, or chemical industries required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience leading technical or project teams required
Experience with capital and operating cost estimating and economic analysis
Experience with mechanical integrity programs
Ability to analyze, reason and solve increasingly complex problems.
Working knowledge and experience with Process Safety Management programs preferred
Proficient skills in MS Office Suite preferred.
Fluent in English, oral and written required.
Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargroves total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.
Minimum Salary: $124,800.00
Maximum Salary: $145,600.00
