Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Superintendent Project, Engineering & Reliability at our Turquoise Ridge operation. The Superintendent Project, Engineering & Reliability provides senior technical leadership and serves as the primary interface for all engineering, projects, and reliability functions supporting underground mine operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate cross-discipline teams-including project engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, and reliability personnel-to deliver capital projects, drive asset performance improvements, and implement defect elimination strategies across both fixed and mobile underground equipment.
  • Play a key role in aligning technical solutions with operational goals, ensuring long-term equipment reliability, and embedding engineering excellence into all phases of the asset lifecycle.
  • Lead, align, and integrate the underground engineering, projects, and reliability functions to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor engineering and reliability strategies in alignment with site-level business objectives and operational KPIs.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and other stakeholders to eliminate silos and ensure cohesive execution.
  • Oversee the performance and output of mechanical, electrical, and project engineers, ensuring technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, including designs, technical scopes, specifications, and work packages for both capital and sustaining projects.
  • Ensure all engineering outputs are aligned with project milestones, site priorities, and underground operational requirements.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of capital and sustaining projects, from concept through execution, commissioning, and handover.
  • Oversee contractor execution, including engineering reviews, quality assurance, safety compliance, and performance monitoring throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support the development of AFEs, including cost estimates, schedules, resource planning, and alignment with financial governance processes.
  • Lead asset reliability improvement programs, focusing on defect elimination and performance optimization of both mobile and fixed underground equipment.
  • Drive reliability engineering initiatives, including RCFA, FMEA, RCM, and the development of data-driven reliability dashboards.
  • Leverage CMMS data, condition monitoring inputs, and analytics tools to create actionable reliability and maintenance strategies.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and succession planning to ensure capability development and organizational resilience.
  • Ensure all engineering work and project execution adheres to applicable safety standards, MSHA regulations, and internal policies.
  • Participate in formal risk assessments and support readiness reviews, ensuring potential hazards are identified and mitigated during project execution.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, change logs, and project records to meet audit, legal, and governance requirements
  • Preform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the mining industry, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering or technical leadership role, preferably in underground operations preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in capital project execution, including budgeting, scheduling, contractor management, and commissioning required
  • Experience using Xeras preferred
  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including RCM, RCFA, FMEA, and asset performance optimization across both fixed and mobile underground equipment preferred
  • Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly SAP PM or equivalent preferred
  • Experience using engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI), and mine planning software (e.g., Deswik) is advantageous preferred
  • Skilled in project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. PMP certification or formal project management training is an advantage preferred
  • Exposure to or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is desirable preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and lead high-performance technical teams required
