JOB DESCRIPTION

The company is a leading manufacturer of Commercial Kitchen, Millwork, and Health Care Equipment, the incumbent is responsible for designing systems and to assist the Design Engineer Manager in the development and training of Design Engineers within the Department. The Design Engineer administrator will have the working knowledge of construction and manufacturing related. The incumbent will be responsible for assist the Design Engineer Manager in assisting other design engineers to identify or answer questions / issues in the design process.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for designing systems.
  • Managing project scopes, timelines, cost, support and implementation for both new development and existing product modifications.
  • Responsible for all phases of the custom manufacturing process to include engineering, design, production drawings, assembly support to include quality and testing while maintaining excellent cost controls toward on-time delivery.
  • Interface with leads in other department.
  • Capture changes and modifications in the deliverables that has been intimated by project, prior to release of deliverable.
  • Ensure appropriate checking and review of all documentation /drawings before release.
  • Attend project review and /production meetings.
  • Manpower estimation, work planning/forecast and effective utilization of manpower, progress monitoring and adherence to schedule completion of engineering documents.
  • Assist head of department with administration functions.
  • Assist with work load distribution to design engineers.
  • Assist with the review and validation of design, changes and modifications for department design engineers.
  • Oversee coordination of al special requests and assign all projects to design engineers according to priority.
  • Identify training needs of team members.
  • Provide feedback to the Design Engineer manager of project process, with agreed periodicity.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Secondary education in related field is preferred.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of sheet metal forming, manufacturing, welding, finishing. knowledge of electric, and refrigeration systems. BOM and labor allocations with MRP or ERP systems

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as customer correspondence, invoices, order forms, product specification sheets, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
