Job Description
InteRebar Fabricators is seeking a Rebar Fabricator in its fabrication shop in New Castle, DE to serve as a key member of the rebar fabrication team, versatile in performing a range of essential tasks including (but not limited to) shearing, bending, assembling, tying, labeling, tagging, loading, and other general tasks. This role fills in where needed to ensure efficient production flow, supports specialized operators, and maintains overall shop productivity and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication Support
Assist with shearing, bending, and assembly of rebar according to job requirements and shop priorities.
Read and interpret shop drawings, bar lists, and work orders to verify details and specifications.
Help stage, label, and bundle rebar products for shipping or further processing.
Versatile Operation
Operate a variety of fabrication machines (shears, benders, threaders) under supervision or as trained.
Support machine set-up, adjustments, and changeovers as required.
Fill in for absent team members and respond to shifting production needs.
Material Handling
Load and unload rebar, either manually or with lifting equipment.
Move cut and bent bars between workstations, stock, and staging areas.
Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
Keep work areas organized, clear scrap, and prepare material for the next phase of production.
Quality & Safety
Inspect product for qualitycheck lengths, bends, labels, and tolerances.
Monitor for material defects, mis-cuts, or nonconforming fabrication and alert supervisors as needed.
Follow all shop safety protocols and use appropriate PPE (gloves, eye and hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
Documentation
Accurately record completed work, production counts, and scrap amounts.
Assist in maintaining inventory records and tracking material use.
Housekeeping & Maintenance
Clean and maintain shop floor, equipment, and tools daily.
Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities under guidance from supervisors.
