DESCRIPTION:
This is a skilled position involving the repair and preventative maintenance of mechanical systems at wastewater facilities. Duties involve responsibility for independently performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment and monitoring instruments. General instructions are received regarding work of ordinary difficulty, permitting leeway in planning work details. Detailed instructions are received for new and unusual assignments. The work is performed under supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic III or Chief Maintenance Mechanic with a considerable degree of independence in diag- nosing problems and initiating necessary repairs. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate employees assigned to repair and maintenance tasks. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:
A.Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Technology, Electrical
Technology, or a closely related field; OR,
B.Graduation from high school, possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in the mainte- nance and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical or sewage treatment equipment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at time of appointment and throughout employment.
