Senior Civil Structural Engineer
Salary: 150K - 205K
Direct Hire, full-time opportunity in Theodore, AL
Schedule: Monday - Friday
A successful and fast-growing multi-discipline EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm is seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to lead and grow its Civil/Structural team in the Theodore, AL office.
This is a strategic leadership role suited for an experienced engineer ready to step into department management and make a long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Civil/Structural Engineering department, providing vision, technical oversight, and alignment with company goals, industry standards, and client needs.
Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team; oversee recruitment, performance reviews, resource allocation, succession planning, collaboration, and high morale.
Approve and sign off on complex engineering deliverables, including structural designs, foundation plans, steel supports, project reports, and technical specifications.
Develop and implement departmental goals and continuous improvement strategies, including QA/QC procedures, design standards, and quality initiatives.
Collaborate with project management, controls, and business development teams to support proposal preparation, cost estimates, schedules, and client presentations.
Build and maintain client and vendor relationships; support business growth and resolve technical or contractual issues.
Ensure full compliance with applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE 7, while championing a strong safety culture across all design work and field activities.
Represent the department in leadership meetings, audits, and cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
MS or MBA preferred.
10+ years of civil/structural design experience in EPC or industrial environments, with 3-5 years in a leadership role.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing engineering teams.
Strong experience with departmental budgeting, planning, and profitability.
Proficiency in tools such as RISA, AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM, and project management platforms.
Expertise in structural codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, etc.).
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Minimal travel required
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
