Job Description The Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in collaborating with technical drafting staff, clients, and external teams to prepare preliminary designs and ensure compliance with building codes. This position involves attending client meetings, coordinating with construction project managers, architects, civil, and mechanical engineers, and producing structural calculations and construction-ready design drawings. The engineer will manage construction administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and coordination with construction teams. Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with technical drafting staff, clients, and external project teams.
- Prepare preliminary designs for clients ensuring adherence to building codes.
- Attend client meetings and coordinate with construction project managers, architects, civil, and mechanical engineers.
- Produce structural calculations for use during preparation of construction documents and construction.
- Develop construction-ready design drawings coordinated with all disciplines to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Manage construction administration tasks such as shop drawing review and RFI responses.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- 1-7 years of structural engineering building design experience, preferably in commercial construction.
- Ability to prepare structural designs for steel, concrete, masonry, light gage steel, and foundation design.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency using Revit independently to create construction-level structural drawings is preferred.
- Knowledge of analysis and design programs such as RAM Structural System, SAP2000, RISA, or other recognized 3D design packages preferred.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it is preferred.
