The Manufacturing Automation Development Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated Engineering Technician to build, troubleshoot, and improve custom automation projects at Teslas world-class manufacturing facilities. The Engineering Technician works closely with Engineering teams and plays a key role in reducing cost, increasing capacity, and delivering quality manufacturing equipment for Teslas cutting-edge products. This is an exciting opportunity to build state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment in Reno, Nevada. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem of an incredibly exciting product.
This role offers extensive job training in key areas such as pneumatics, low/high voltage electrical systems, as well as mechanical assembly and fabrication. Youll work closely with Senior Technicians, gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge that will support your growth. The Engineering Technician team collaborates to execute automation projects efficiently while ensuring our development spaces are organized, fully stocked, and equipped with the right tools for success.

- Assembly of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic manufacturing equipment
- Assembly of prototype equipment for engineering research and development
- Rigging, locating, alignment, and leveling of equipment according to engineering layouts
- Execute technician tasks independently after initial instruction, sometimes at remote locations
- Collaborate with other technician teams, providing instructions, and verifying craftsmanship
- Direct interaction with cross-functional engineering teams, escalating issues, and suggesting solutions
- Experience assembling equipment from mechanical engineering drawings
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and wiring electrical control panels
- Experience installing, wiring, and plumbing common manufacturing devices
- Working knowledge of DC/AC electrical systems
- Hands-on machining experience including mills, lathes, saws, grinders, etc.
- Experience rigging, driving forklift, driving scissor lifts, and using pallet jacks
- Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
