Position Summary\:

The Electrician shall perform all licensed electrical tasks at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Facilities

Supervision Received\:

Receives general direction and oversight from the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor or the Director of Facilities in performing duties in accordance with all best practices and established guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities\:

Meets with supervisor daily for the planning of current and future assignments.

Tests, troubleshoots, repairs, installs, maintains, and operates various types of electrical systems in a safe and efficient manner.

Performs all electrical tasks per MA State Code and under the supervision of the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor.

Assists in maintenance related tasks as needed.

Responsible for all cost estimates and installation for new and present systems.

Responsible for preventative and/or predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.

Ensures proper operation of high voltage generator and transformers used to back-up the primary electrical system.

Installs and repair electronic devices when possible.

Writes electrical specifications when needed.

Maintains all electrical supplies.

Performs routine building maintenance duties, including but not limited to painting, door repairs, minor plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems maintenance.

Ability to interpret electrical construction blueprints. Minimum qualifications\:

A High School Diploma or equivalent certificate is required.

Licensed Master Electrician is required.

A minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning, installing, and maintaining commercial electrical work related to new construction is required.

A minimum of one (1) years of experience working in a correctional facility is preferred but not required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver's license is required.
