The Idaho Department of Lands ( IDL ) has two (2) openings for a

Lands Resource Foreman (Engine Captain).

This position is a benefitted .83 FTE , working at least 1,726 hours a year, located at our Southwest Supervisory Area Office in Boise, Idaho.

Description

This position is Grade J, additional information can be found: State Employee Compensation | Division of Human Resources (idaho.gov) ( Minimum filling rate is $20.48. The final salary rate is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. This position is open until filled.

The Lands Resource Foreman performs technical, operational, and administrative duties in support of wildland fire suppression management through ensuring daily readiness of assigned personnel and equipment to respond to wildland fires safely and effectively.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the hiring, training, and supervising of seasonal firefighting personnel to perform in a fire environment.

Monitor assigned seasonal fire personnels time and travel.

Support and instruct wildland fire and seasonal training courses.

Provides input for required Fire Reports to fire managers.

Assist in the preparation of necessary operating agreements, inventory, and maintenance reports.

Assists in supervising and implementing hazard reduction plans related to wildland fuels reduction and forestry operations.

Conduct safety sessions and after-action reviews and identify and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Performs as the Incident Commander on wildland fires and supervises resources from cooperator agencies.

Assist in the implementation and execution of prescribed fire projects

Assist in the management of the federal excess equipment program ( FFP / FEPP )

Maintain a participatory role while leading the fire crew by facilitating teamwork and keeping open communication between fire managers and crew.

Meet with fire managers regularly to update crew training needs, project status and other responsibilities as needed.
