The Weitz Company is seeking to hire a construction Project Executive based out of our Denver, CO Office but willing to relocate per project needs in the Rocky Mountain region.

The Project Executive is responsible for the overall success of assigned projects by overseeing the construction operations while providing leadership and management direction. This role develops project team members, identifies continuous improvement opportunities and assists with the creation of a business unit strategic growth plan and budget. The Project Executive typically reports to the Director of Operations or Business Unit Leader.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead assigned project(s) to success by developing a strong safety culture and guiding performance at the expected level of quality and profitability
  • Understand and establish contract terms, obligations and budgets; review and enforce prime contract terms and obligations
  • Collaborate with business development teams to identify pursuits and foster new or existing business relationships; support the creation of proposals and client presentations
  • Partner with business unit leadership to identify qualified staff for project(s) and gaps for future growth; manage the recruitment and hiring of talented staff to fill identified gaps; identify needed learning opportunities for existing staff
  • Review and provide insight on project schedule and project plan
  • Oversee construction progress to ensure project plan is followed, schedule and quality management is occurring, and modifications are addressed proactively, in accordance with established Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure project goals are executed and achieved; build high morale and commitment
  • Deliver on client expectations; identify innovative solutions with project team when necessary
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly project status reports (MPSR), owner billings and financial risk assessments
  • Partner with necessary team members throughout the duration of the preconstruction process to ensure assigned projects are set up for success
  • Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Provide direction during the buyout process and preconstruction efforts; evaluate value, opportunities, and risks to the customer
  • Accept overall responsibility of risk management and mitigation for assigned project(s)
  • Lead dispute resolution process among subcontractors, vendors, architects and owners
  • Assist business unit leader with creation, management and implementation of annual operating plan, strategic growth plan and annual budget
  • Drive value engineering and identify scope reduction opportunities
  • Lead a team by example through motivation, professionalism, providing clear direction, proposing and implementing change
  • Create and foster working relationships with all personnel involved in the construction process
  • Delegate tasks/responsibilities as appropriate for development; recommend and/or carry out disciplinary action when necessary; manage job assignments; establish project team goals; recommend promotions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What Were Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 13 years of construction project management experience is required
    • Experience in a fast-paced environment
    • Proven history of leading others successfully and to teach, develop and mentor others
    • Data center, aviation, industrial, and commercial experience is strongly preferred
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership skills with a desire to mentor, coach, and develop a team
    • Ability to compare and analyze various systems and related cost impacts
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Business acumen and relationship building skills
  • Technology:
    • Candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Apple products (iPhone & iPad) and have the ability to learn specific software
    • Solid systems experience with Procore, JDE, Bluebeam, scheduling software, and Asta is preferred
    • Training will be provided on company standards
