Environmental Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Technician to support environmental remediation and monitoring projects in Georgia. This position is perfect for those interested in developing a career in environmental construction and consulting. The role involves compiling construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data, overseeing environmental and remediation construction projects, and providing field and office support to geologists and engineers. The position requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team on site-specific tasks, and a willingness to work outdoors and travel extensively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contractor activities and performance on various projects including remediation, landfill construction, and industrial process projects.
  • Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, aggregates, and other materials related to landfill and waste containment system construction.
  • Monitor job site activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, and CQA plans.
  • Provide CQA monitoring on various construction and environmental activities at enviro-civil construction sites.
  • Conduct multi-media sampling for investigations, monitoring programs, and data collection projects.
  • Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules, and progress reports.
  • Ensure project documentation aligns with company policies and procedures.
  • Interact with project personnel including contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients to foster an integrated team approach.
  • Assist in preparing final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and report appendices.
  • Adhere to site-specific project health and safety plans and company's Environmental Health and Safety Management policies.
  • Perform tasks in other practice areas such as general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Capability to travel for 7 weeks rotation on site.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work long hours.
  • Physical ability to walk up and down steep slopes and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Mechanically inclined with basic mathematical capabilities in geometry and algebra.
  • Report writing skills for daily field reports using Microsoft Office products.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in soil sampling and groundwater remediation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in construction earthwork and oversight.
  • Experience in landfill gas monitoring and environmental groundwater sampling.
  • 30-Hour OSHA certification is a plus.
  • Experience with large construction job sites and construction materials testing.
  • Understanding of nuclear gauge and nuclear density gauge operations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and schedules.
Work Environment

This position involves working on large-scale landfill, utility or earth work projects across Georgia. The work schedule is generally a Mon-Sat schedule. The role requires travel, and per diem and lodging is provided for travel days. Accommodation is covered for short-term and long-term projects. The work environment includes exposure to outdoor conditions, and the candidate must be prepared to work in various weather conditions. A company vehicle, phone, laptop, and tablet are provided. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
