Austin Industrial is currently seeking a General Foreman to join our staff located at Artesia, NM. They must be able to oversee and direct one or more aspects of the Soft Craft workforce. Manages and coordinates the activities of assigned staff and resolves problems and issues as they arise. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs day-to-day management of one or more aspects of the maintenance department, including providing maintenance and equipment reports, scheduling, workflow, procedures, materials, crafts, contractors, equipment, personnel issues, safety issues, and planning
- Provides strategic plans for department improvements
- Ensures goals and targets are met by the group and reports project status to management on a regular basis.
- Oversees the performance of all soft craft personnel which may include compliance with all federal, State, and Company policies and procedures
- Ensures efficient/effective use of resources through the use of an effective work planning/scheduling process and contracting strategy
- Ensures work performed is free of defects including development/implementation of maintenance best practices

- Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 30lbs, climbing up to 200ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted), and strenuous physical activity.
Qualifications:
- Experience – 10 years of industrial maintenance/craft experience. 5 years of supervision experiences.
- Ability to lead and direct a large workforce craftsmen or other associates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Willing and able to work in shop settings and field environment
Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a science or engineering related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
- Microsoft Office Suite, Lean Principles/Pull Maintenance. Control/hazardous waste management is desired in some cases.
- Valid Driver's License
- Meet physical demands as listed above
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed by the assigned location
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment
