Handyman seeking licensed contractor for small Mohawk laminate install (Chicago) compensation: Will work with your rate! I am at your mercy! We want to install it ourselves, mostly, but know we need a contractor of a certain legitimacy to have the installation validated for potential warranty claims. It's a Mohawk RevWood laminate, and we are going with either the premium Mohawk underlayment specified for it or Pergo's equivalent. I've been a semi-professional handyman here in Chicago for over a year, and I have a little bit of experience laying flooring from a long time ago. We are looking to hire someone to come in initially and perhaps periodically to help and supervise me as well as doing the official stuff. What I believe I Need from you: Check and document subfloor prep & moisture readings before I start Advise on proper acclimation and expansion gap requirements Inspect and sign off at completion that the work meets manufacturer guidelines This is not a full install job, just oversight and documentation for warranty purposes.
