IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

Requires the operating, rigging and maintaining of assigned cranes to lift and move a variety of cargoes and materials, including propellants, missile and missile assemblies.

Determine and select proper rigging and boom and clutch adjustments depending on weight, shape and size of load, clearance, speeds and distances of operations involved.

Perform such typical operations as operating cranes to lift, move, and position all types of cargoes including such items as machinery, missiles, missile assemblies, tooling,
ordnance items and test vehicles. Check and adjust boom rigging. Check and adjust clutch and brake settings. Change booms, hog rods and hoist line. Rig loads to be
moved. Loading and offloading of ordnance assemblies from submarine and support ships.

Works at various heights.

Operate in conjunction with other crane or equipment operators to move bulky or cumbersome loads requiring more than one crane.

Perform and/or assist in the proof loading of assigned cranes as required.

Perform major maintenance, repair, periodic preventive maintenance and assure that equipment is in good working condition at all times.

Materials worked with: Missiles, ordnance items such as gas generators and tube closures, machine tools and machinery, etc.

Tools used: Mechanics hand tools, hammers, hack saws, crow bars, etc.

Equipment used: Assigned cranes. Crane riggers accessories such as slings, cables, hooks, spreader bars, and other lifting and security devices.To operate assigned cranes consistent with requirements, to rig all types of loads and use crane riggers accessory equipment and to signal for same.

To apply a complete knowledge of crane operating, rigging, and signaling practice and procedures, shop and company safety requirements, and a working knowledge of assigned cranes and accessories necessary to the required safe maintenance of same.

To use shop mathematics including arithmetic involving decimals and fractions and basic physics.

In order to hold this classification, an employee must possess all certification and/or licenses required. May require the ability to handle program peculiar equipment material.

Must have proper classification of commercial Drivers License required by the State of Florida to operate material handling equipment normally used by employees in this
classification. A Florida Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), the ability to operate a tractor-trailer, and a clean driving record.
Basic computer skills are required for performing parts research, parts ordering and completion of company required training courses.
Experienced in operating forklifts, genie booms, and other similar equipment.
Experience with proof load testing operations on forklifts, cranes, slings, shackles, and other associated lifting equipment.
Strong communication skills.
Experience with hazardous material use and disposal (i.e. sandblasting, painting, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturers' specifications, manuals, diagrams, schematics and symbols.
Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
