Maintenance Supervisor Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans and organizes tasks and assignments for all technicians before the start of a shift.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly maintenance schedules.
  • Supervises maintenance team and contractors.
  • Responds to maintenance requests.
  • Monitors inventory of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies, and orders replacements as required.
  • Coordinates with other teams to keep projects on schedule.
  • Leads safety inspections at worksites.
  • Performs maintenance work as needed.
  • Inspect facilities and building systems (heating, ventilation etc.) periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance.
  • Escalates issues to management and recommends solutions.
  • Ensures the team follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Makes sure the team adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Manages and maintains a preventive maintenance tasks to keep all day-to-day operations running smoothly
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance
  • Interviews potential maintenance team members.
  • Oversees, motivates, and reviews maintenance staff including management of training and professional development

Maintenance Supervisor Qualifications and Skills:

  • Leads teams in an effective, positive, and efficient manner
  • Understands and follows OSHA guidelines and other regulations
  • Exhibits problem solving and team building skills
  • Knows maintenance best practices.
  • Demonstrates time management and organization skills.
  • Manages maintenance workers and has strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Recruiting, supervising and training maintenance technicians
  • Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating, plumbing, etc.)
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
  • Understanding of budgeting and performance management
  • Excellent planning and leadership abilities
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient Computer Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of maintenance experience is required and 1 year management experience is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Degree or diploma from a vocational school preferred.
  • Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred
  • OSHA 30-hour training preferred.
