Onsite Niagara Falls, NY Moog Space and Defense Group (SDG) is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and the thirst for human exploration. The Niagara Falls Site supplies rocket engines, propulsion systems, and propellant tanks for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle and strategic defense missions. We are looking for an experienced design engineer to add to our growing team. Primary applications are monopropellant and bipropellant rocket engines and propulsion systems for strategic missiles, LEO, GEO and exploration missions with thrust ranges from 0.2 lbf to >500 lbf. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance and access to U.S. export-controlled information.
To be considered for this position, heres what youll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 10 years of relevant engineering experience; BS, MS or PhD preferred (candidates with less than 10 years experience will be considered based on content of past design and development experience)
  • Experience interfacing with customers and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach other engineers.
  • Can understand new technical concepts and products. Utilize these skills to understand risks and take appropriate action.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will:
  • Lead design efforts on propulsion systems, bipropellant and/or monopropellant engine applications.
  • Apply your expertise in design for manufacturing. Work with peer engineers and technicians to inform the design for manufacturability.
  • Support the detailed analyses for our products including the following possible areas based on incumbent area of expertise: propulsion system conceptual layout and design, rocket engine combustion, thermal, structural, dynamic and plume analyses. Depending on the project and your skillset, you may complete these required analyses.
  • Direct other engineers to generate conceptual designs/drawings, and/or conduct that work individually.
  • Ensure drawings are complete and accurate which could include using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) methodologies to meet design, manufacturing and inspection requirements
  • Application engineer Moog standard products to meet new mission requirements.
  • Work in Teamcenter/NX or comparable CAD application.
  • Route space system fluid and electrical layouts.
  • Present your work to colleagues and to customers.
  • Mentor and coach other design engineers.

The primary site for this role is at our Niagara Falls location. Consideration will be given to being based out of East Aurora, NY.

Salary Range Transparency:

Niagara Falls, NY $110,000.00$140,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
