EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur. The purpose of this position is to operate, maintain, and monitor HVAC equipment, generators, air compressors, life safety systems, and related work as required to maintain proper operation and to promote energy conservation. Employee will be required to use hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments used in repair and servicing of HVAC systems, boilers and related equipment. Employee is responsible for the building automated control systems used to maintain proper comfort levels and to manage energy consumption. Operates emergency generators for emergency and test purposes and performs preventative maintenance. Reads meters, gauges and automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operation conditions. Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, lubricating bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, recorders and gauges. Employee performs chemical test to determine water condition and add chemical treatment to maintain proper parameters to promote proper equipment operation. This position may be required to work early morning, evening, weekend, holidays, and extended duty work hours. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle throughout the parish thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference. A minimum of six (6) months of work experience, at the apprentice-level or higher, operating and maintaining commercial building equipment, to include at least one of the following: HVAC equipment, boilers, generators (operating at 50 kW or greater), electric motors and pumps, air compressors, computerized building automated systems, or life safety systems (i.e., fire alarms, fire pumps, and/or fire sprinkler systems). OR Completion of a degree or certificate program from a recognized technical/vocational school or community college in an area of training/study focusing on commercial building equipment related to the above mentioned.

Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate but not to exceed the listed salary range. (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
