Job description
The Environmental, Heath, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a world class safety culture to reduce injuries and illnesses and also result in significant improvements to the Company's productivity and financial performance. The individual in this position will own the safety program at the assigned location. This is a supervisory role.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining systems to manage risks and compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, best practices, policies and procedures
- Interpreting, implementing, maintaining and communicating compliance requirements applicable to regulations and company safety and health standards affecting the facility
- Providing expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, and evaluation of safety related compliance and any foreseeable safety and health requirements or needs
- Working in conjunction with the safety committee, manufacturing and facilities personnel to identify risks and in developing/ implementing control methodologies for environmental, health and safety risks
- Assisting leadership in establishing a safety culture
- Communicating and expecting from employees a vision of lowering risk tolerance
- Establishing effective systems ensuring compliance and promoting continual improvement by utilizing and measuring appropriate leading and lagging performance metrics
- Maintaining required safety and health records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company records management requirements
- Ensuring that health and industrial hygiene systems are effectively established, implemented and maintained to assure that health and safety requirements are met
- Interfacing and coordinating with local emergency response personnel and other regulating bodies
- Coordinating the administration of the workers' compensation program, including working with insurance carrier and health professionals to reduce the duration of disability through application of various light duty and return-to-work programs
- Creating, promoting, and maintaining an effective level of communication with all personnel that transcends hierarchical and departmental boundaries of all departments and levels
- Managing and providing continual improvement to the site's environmental compliance program
- Maintaining knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations. Maintaining federal, state, and local environmental permits. File all required federal, state, and local environmental reports as required.
- Hosting regulatory agency compliance audits and inspections
- Managing the site's environmental policies and procedures
- Installing and maintaining a documented Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001 and customer's environmental compliance requirements
- Being able to respond to chemical spills or releases at any time
- Conducting chemical accident investigations, analysis, and corrective actions
- Developing proposals to identify and implement cost reduction projects
- Conducting management EMS compliance review meetings
- Initiate and/or participate in various site audits including, but not limited to, internal audits, cross-fab audits, and self-audits.

- Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with co-workers, team members, and internal or external customers. Communicate technical issues to nontechnical personnel.
Job requirements
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related engineering field of study. Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and Power Point. Ability to perform at a high level with minimal supervision.
