Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are hiring a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to serve as a Project Engineer at Creech Air Force Base (CAFB). In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting critical operations and maintenance (O&M) activities that ensure the long-term functionality, safety, and resilience of infrastructure vital to U.S. military missions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead civil engineering expert for infrastructure maintenance, repair, and construction projects across the base.
  • Conduct regular inspections and surveys of facilities and utility systems to identify deficiencies and prioritize improvements.
  • Prepare design layouts, specifications, and technical documentation for projects involving roadways, foundations, drainage, utility infrastructure, and general site development.
  • Manage or monitor projects from preconstruction site surveys through post-construction inspections and record documentation.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOW), Statements of Objectives (SOO), and up to 35% design deliverables in coordination with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
  • Ensure contractor compliance with project specifications, timelines, safety standards, and quality control during the construction phase.
  • Participate in construction proposal evaluations and technical review boards; provide support during negotiations and contract modification discussions.
  • Provide civil engineering input to maintenance teams and trade shops to resolve technical issues, review service contracts, and support the Recurring Work Program (RWP).
  • Use modern design and engineering tools such as AutoCAD, project tracking systems, and cost estimating software (e.g., RSMeans).
  • Ensure full adherence to federal, state, and local codes regarding health, safety, and the environment.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 6 years of civil engineering experience in design or project management for U.S.-based companies or organizations (within the last 10 years).
  • Understanding of Air Force or Department of Defense (DoD) infrastructure project protocols.
  • Excellent collaboration and coordination skills across engineering, finance, and construction teams
  • Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines
  • Must be willing to complete required AFIT courses (WMGT 322, WMGT 422, WENG 200, WENG 400) unless already certified.
