Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

The Lead Construction Manager (LCM) oversees complex base facility and infrastructure projects, including mechanical, electrical, and structural systems. Responsible for managing construction schedules, compliance, documentation, contractor coordination, and project team oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Construction Management Section and coordinate project activities with government engineering leadership.
  • Manage schedules, tasks, and performance of Project Engineers and Project Managers
  • Serve as construction representative, overseeing all phases of construction on large, technically complex projects.
  • Prepare and review project documentation including SOWs, IGCEs, RFI responses, environmental analyses, funding requests, change orders, and work orders.
  • Review plans and specifications pre-contract to ensure feasibility and accuracy; participate in pre-bid and pre-construction conferences.
  • Provide technical clarifications on drawings/specs and approve changes not affecting basic design or costs.
  • Oversee submittals, material inspections, and contractor operations to ensure contract compliance.
  • Identify discrepancies and reject non-compliant workmanship or materials.
  • Determine testing requirements; analyze results for compliance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, maintain daily logs, and perform final acceptance checks.
  • Serve as liaison between contracting officer and engineering team, advising on costs and schedule.
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping, documentation, and project closeout, including as-built drawing updates.
  • Enforce compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with all stakeholders.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management.
  • Must complete required AFIT courses (WMGT 322, WMGT 422, WENG 200, WENG 400) unless already certified.
  • Familiar with Air Force procedures, project management best practices, and federal construction codes.
