Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive development of complex, custom automated equipment. This role encompasses mechanical design, performance optimization, and project execution, from concept through release, manufacturing, customer acceptance, installation, and post-installation support.

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative mechanical designs that meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Select cost-effective, reliable components and coordinate procurement for timely delivery.
  • Analyze mechanical systems for stress, load, flow, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure manufacturability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Perform self-checks and peer reviews of drawings and BOMs to ensure accuracy.
  • Execute revisions based on feedback from manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • Provide technical direction during assembly and start-up phases.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure design intent is met.
  • Prepare cost estimates and design concepts during early project stages.
  • Support customer requirements related to process cycle time and mechanical performance.
Essential Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach to design validation.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD, with SolidWorks preferred, including solid modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  • Deep understanding of pneumatic systems, automation components, and standard metrology.
  • Familiarity with special processes such as dispensing, laser welding, and environmental controls.
  • Basic knowledge of control systems and feedback mechanisms.
  • Effective communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in custom machine design and automation systems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and application of GD&T principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on involvement in design validation and project execution.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME or MSME).
  • Minimum of 7 years of recent experience in machine design and project management.
  • Expertise in pneumatic systems and machine control systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
