Location: Ivanpah Generating Station - Nipton, CA (30-minute drive from Las Vegas Boulevard)

About the Role

As a Station Electrician, you'll be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment at our power generation facility. You'll work with high-voltage systems, perform diagnostics, and ensure safe and efficient operations across a wide range of electrical components.
Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment including breakers, motors, lighting, transformers, heat tracing, power feeds, and cabling.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and restore systems to service.
  • Test and repair electrical circuits (up to 13,800VAC and 250VDC).
  • Use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, meggers, and amp meters.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation including drawings and manuals.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, and other mobile equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of electrical equipment and work areas.
  • Support other crafts and vendors as needed.
  • Learn and apply skills related to motor-operated and air-operated valves and controls.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, including apprenticeship.
  • Experience with power plant equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in electronics, pneumatics, instrumentation, or related technical disciplines.
Key Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, voltage/current relationships, and maintenance protocols.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, job instructions, and schematics.
  • Skilled in preventive and corrective maintenance of power plant electrical systems.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, rigging apparatus, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and safety compliance.
  • Capable of performing electromechanical repairs and operating heavy equipment.
  • Effective communicator with ability to work independently and in team environments.
  • Basic proficiency in mathematics (algebra, geometry) for measurements and calibrations.
  • Computer literacy and ability to use associated software.
