Summary:
The Service Manager oversees the service department of a small electrical contractor, ensuring high-quality electrical services, customer satisfaction, and efficient operations. This role involves managing a team of electricians, coordinating service projects, and maintaining client relationships while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
> Team Management: Supervise, schedule, and support a team of 510 electricians and apprentices, ensuring timely completion of service calls and projects.
> Service Coordination: Plan and dispatch service requests, prioritizing urgent jobs and optimizing technician schedules.
> Customer Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring satisfaction with completed work.
> Project Oversight: Manage small to medium-sized electrical service projects, including troubleshooting, repairs, and installations, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
> Quality Control: Ensure all work meets National Electrical Code (NEC) standards, local regulations, and company quality expectations.
> Inventory & Equipment: Oversee inventory of tools, materials, and vehicles, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
> Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
> Estimating & Billing: Prepare accurate estimates for service work, review invoices, and ensure timely billing and collections.
> Vendor Relations: Coordinate with suppliers for materials and equipment, negotiating pricing when necessary.
> Reporting: Maintain records of service calls, project progress, and team performance, providing reports to ownership as needed.
Qualifications:
> Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the electrical trade, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
> Licensing: Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred
> Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; proficient in project management and customer service.
> Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of electrical systems, NEC, and safety standards.
> Tools: Familiarity with industry-standard tools, software (e.g., Bluebeam, Jobber), and Microsoft Office.
> Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally work in the field, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various conditions.
> Availability: On-call availability for emergency service needs.
