TIG Welder/Fabricator**
**Job Description**
This position involves working in a custom weld/fabrication shop, utilizing various tools for fabricating, welding, assembly, and finishing handrail systems. Candidates will be expected to read schematics or blueprints to determine the type of weld required for assembly and completion of handrail systems. The role offers a gradual learning opportunity, as new hires will start in one area and progressively learn different roles, ensuring proficiency across all departments over time.
**Responsibilities**
+ Measure, layout, cut, fit, join, and fabricate stainless steel railing systems using appropriate measurement and welding techniques.
+ Read and interpret shop drawings, project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions to perform fabrication of high-end architectural stainless steel railings and components.
+ Operate welding equipment to produce quality TIG welds in stainless steel in both horizontal and vertical positions.
+ Grind and polish stainless steel materials to required finish specifications.
+ Operate metal working equipment such as saws, drill presses, punch presses, bar and pipe benders, brakes, grinders, and polishers, along with various portable and hand tools.
+ Perform detailed quality checks to verify accuracy of manufactured products against fabrication drawings and ensure all standards and requirements are met.
+ Utilize knowledge of machinery and equipment, mathematics, and physical sciences to complete fabrication as necessary.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in TIG welding stainless steel.
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
+ Proficiency in using tape measures, calipers, protractors, and related tools.
+ Capability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts, and understanding of both metric and imperial systems of measurement.
+ Ability to do layout work.
+ Logical reasoning skills for troubleshooting and solving practical problems.
+ Physical ability to safely lift up to sixty pounds.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in stainless steel fabrication, including cutting tube, grinding, polishing, bending, and assembly.
+ Ability to follow detailed assembly instructions.
+ Extremely safety conscious with adherence to all safety processes and procedures.
+ Ability and willingness to follow and interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
+ Experience in working in a team-oriented environment and showing a sense of urgency in completing tasks.

The work areas are divided into welder fabricating, machining, and general labor/assembly departments, promoting teamwork and cooperation. The dress code requires work pants, t-shirts, and steel toe boots or sneakers.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of COLUMBIA, Pennsylvania.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
