This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a New York State Structural Engineering Group Leader to foster excellence, innovation and growth of the structural engineering practice within our Transportation and Infrastructure business line. This mature and successful practice serves highway, transit, rail, aviation, and maritime clients throughout the Northeast. The right candidate will drive business development efforts, as well as efficient and high-quality delivery.

We're seeking a leader who can inspire this talented group of over 70 structural engineers to continue WSP's long standing legacy of successfully tackling the most complex structural projects in the transportation market. This role will be based out of either our New York City or Valhalla, New York office.

Your Impact

  • Business development with public and private sector clients.
  • Managing multiple teams of structural engineers across New York State, ensuring the individuals and groups are thriving.
  • Advancing and implementing state-of-the-art structural engineering practices, inclusive of advanced modelling/analysis/design tools, digital delivery, AI, and computer programming techniques.
  • Driving the development of innovations and alternative technical concepts to reduce construction cost, risk, and project duration.
  • Mentoring/developing people leaders, project managers, and technical managers in the structural engineering field.
  • Identifying and recruiting top talent to support the continued growth of the practice.
  • Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.

  • 15+ years of experience designing roadway and/or rail bridge, tunnel and related structures.

  • Proven business development capability commensurate with supporting a 70+ person structural engineering team.

  • Proven project management and risk management expertise across a range of multidisciplinary project types and markets.

  • Proven success in developing and implementing structure and culture for

  • Staff development

  • Project delivery excellence

  • Technical innovation

  • Quality management

  • Professional Engineer Registration in New York State, willing to obtain PE registration in other states.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to foster a welcoming and nurturing environment for staff at all levels.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience working on complex and mega-projects.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods.
  • Direct experience with major transportation clients including MTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and/or the NYSTA.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $149,200 - $300,410.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances and the type of work being performed not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
