Job Title: Mechanical Solar Laborer

Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting the mechanical installation of large-scale solar racking systems, photovoltaic modules, and related components on construction sites. Employees may operate hand and power tools of all types to align, secure, and install structural components. Duties also include assisting other workers, transporting materials, maintaining cleanliness of the job site, and supporting other trades as needed. The role involves physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions and adherence to strict safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation of solar racking systems and photovoltaic modules
  • Align and secure structural components using hand and power tools
  • Load, unload, and transport building materials, machinery, or tools across the job site
  • Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones with appropriate training provided
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials with appropriate training provided
  • Assist with pile layout, torque tube installation, and panel placement
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to eliminate possible hazards
  • Understand and comply with safety considerations as set herein and as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor

Requirements:

  • Follow specific directions
  • Perform a variety of duties, which may often change
  • Work within standards of accuracy
  • Repeat tasks according to set procedures and safety requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site
  • Willingness to travel (if required)
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma preferred
  • On-the-job training required
  • Previous construction, mechanical, or solar experience preferred
