Drafting Technician
Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Drafting Technician to provide 3D modeling and 2D drawing support to engineers in our Construction Equipment facility.
This is an hourly position that works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. plus occasional overtime, as required. It is based in our Construction Equipment facility in Salina, KS.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop detailed drawings of new and revised parts and assemblies in Creo according to 3D models, engineering sketches, and design proposals
Dimension and annotate drawings to clearly communicate requirements to production
Create exploded view drawings to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines
Position instructions, symbols, and comments onto drawings that illustrate and describe installation and maintenance details
Assist design team with prototype and production releases of new and revised parts, weldments, and assemblies in PTC Windchill
Create tooling work orders and deliver drawings to tooling department for all new tooling and tooling revisions
Work in conjunction with engineers to design, layout, or detail components and systems
Create or revise 3D solid models as requested
Produce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and supply management to ensure product is fabricated, welded and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design
Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering; 1 or more years' experience as a Drafter or Technical Illustrator; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with PRO-E, Solid Works, Catia and Microsoft Office tools
Understanding of manufacturing methods
Ability to communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment within a diverse group
