Job Summary
Job Description
MATRIX is seeking a Level 2 to Sr. Level P6 Project Scheduler to serve as the client representative embedded in both the clients office and their electric utility client’s office in the Minneapolis metro (walking distance apart). They will be responsible for Primavera P6 schedule development, maintenance, and reporting for a portfolio of electric transmission, distribution, and substation engineering projects. They will engage with cross-functional teams including engineers, estimators, and project managers to ensure schedule alignment with project scope and cost. They will support the full project lifecycle from early initiation, planning, design, execution and closeout. They will prepare and deliver status reports, metrics, and dashboards using P6, Excel, and related tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and status Primavera P6 schedules across multiple electric utility engineering projects.
- Establish schedule baselines and monitor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate schedule review meetings with internal and client stakeholders.
- Integrate estimating data and earned-value elements into project schedules where applicable.
- Analyze critical paths, conduct what-if scenarios, and support schedule-risk assessments.
- Create visual schedule outputs and dashboards.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred.
- Utility experience with equivalent experience in project scheduling will be considered.
- 5–12 years of experience in Primavera P6 scheduling with engineering or utility projects.
- Direct experience with electric utility, T&D, grid modernization, or similar heavy industry strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting full EPC lifecycle schedules from planning through closeout.
Professional Skills:
- Strong client-facing presence with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to lead discussions and represent the client in collaborative engineering and scheduling meetings.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a matrixed team setting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Primavera P6 (EPPM or Professional).
- Familiar with MS Excel (advanced functions) and reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Experience with estimating tools such as N8 or Hard Dollar is a strong plus.
Soft Skills:
- Outgoing, collaborative, and proactive communicator.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates leadership and adaptability in a fast-paced project environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to commute regularly to both client office and their client offices in the Minneapolis metro area.
