JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

As an Electrical Engineer in Starkey’s Hardware Development Group, you will develop new cutting-edge hearing aids and accessories. Gain hands-on experience with next-gen integrated circuits and packaging, MEMS sensors, rigid and flex board routing, along with the latest electrical simulation tools. You will design products that make lasting improvements to millions around the world. Working in multiple dynamic and cross-functional teams, our Research and Development projects will take you from concept, through prototyping, to validation, and finally to production. Along the way, you will be expected to engage, contribute, and lead as a subject matter expert in realms of electrical design, circuit layout, sensor integration, validation planning & testing, design for manufacturing, and production support. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS

  • Work as an effective member of a cross-functional team on multiple projects.
  • Decipher complex and extensive requirements, identify risks, resolve design limitations, and create mitigation plans.
  • Research, test, integrate, and validate new electrical components for product integration
  • Design ridge/flexible circuit boards via schematic capture and layout tools.
  • Create and execute electrical test plans; analyze results; present reports for broad audiences.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical/electromagnetic performance issues.
  • Design for manufacturing and provide ongoing product support.
  • Create documentation for design decisions, working processes, and test results.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • BSEE +2 year of experience or MSEE +0 years of experience

Experience

  • Entry-level proficiency with schematic and layout CAD packages
    • Mentor Graphics DxDesigner and/or Altium Designer preferred
  • Entry to Intermediate level proficiency with analog and mixed signal design
  • Working knowledge and previous experience with design using sensors
    • MEMS, Optical, Temp, Gyro
  • Basic knowledge and previous experience of designing with microcontrollers, DSP, SoC
  • Entry-level proficiency with circuit simulation tools

Knowledge / Technical Requirements

  • Proficiency with schematic and layout CAD packages. (required for Engineer II)
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools. (required for Engineer II)
  • Proficiency with printed circuit board analysis software and tools. (required for Engineer II)
  • Intermediate working knowledge of DSP technology. (required for Engineer II)
  • Intermediate working knowledge of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog circuits. (required for Engineer II)
  • Intermediate knowledge of acoustics and hearing aid design.
  • Intermediate knowledge of product development best practices (i.e. DFM, DOE, DFMEA, Lean PD, EMC, etc.). (required for Engineer II)

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Proven self-motivation and able to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Interests in acoustics & music

Equipment Operation

  • Various test equipment, acoustic test chambers, audio analyzers, O-scopes, DVOM’s, power supplies, personal computers, etc.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target pay rate for this position is between $78,540 – $105,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
