Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking an experienced GIS & CAD Technician to support the Installation Geospatial Information & Services (IGI&S) team at Creech Air Force Base. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD Map 3D/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Trimble GNSS equipment, and Microsoft Office tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CAD-to-GIS conversion, spatial data integration, and geospatial analysis techniques. You will work closely with engineers, planners, and survey teams to ensure that all geospatial data and drawings are current, accurate, and meet Air Force standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Convert CAD drawings and imagery into GIS datasets, ensuring alignment with SDSFIE standards.
  • Perform CAD-to-GIS translation for a wide range of engineering fields, including building design, utility systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical), site plans, drainage, and infrastructure.
  • Conduct site verifications and limited survey work using Trimble GNSS to validate existing conditions and update geospatial features.
  • Reconcile and integrate external data sources (e.g., DD1354, RPAD) into the GIS system to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Manipulate and manage raster and vector data (PDF, TIFF, DWG, shapefiles, etc.) in GIS and CAD platforms.
  • Maintain and update GIS layers using both tabular and spatial data inputs.
  • Prepare high-quality maps, exhibits, and data visualizations for engineering and planning projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project planning, construction updates, and infrastructure management.
  • Ensure data quality by thoroughly reviewing inputs and outputs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate project status and deliverables clearly and professionally with team members and government stakeholders.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D, ArcGIS 10.6.x or newer, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience using Trimble GNSS survey equipment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be amenable to Occasional travels to Nellis AFB, Creech AFB, Nevada Test & Training Range (NTTR), and surrounding areas
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and a SECRET clearance before starting.
