The Quality Control and Project Management, Sr. Analyst role will work within the Middle Market division of the Commercial Bank. The position is responsible for conducting in-depth reviews of commercial credit underwritings, renewals, and portfolio management activities to assess compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role supports our oversight and controls practices by providing independent quality control over our commercial lending processes and products, including C&I, ICRE, and specialized industry exposure.
Additionally, the role will be responsible for supporting and leading key initiatives and projects that help Middle Market and Webster reach our strategic objectives. The role will collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including credit professionals, finance, commercial administration, technology partners, and senior management.
The candidate must possess a strong work ethic, be focused on attention to detail and be motivated by success. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial services, particularly in the Commercial Banking space. It is also critical that this person is comfortable with rapidly changing and evolving direction and priorities.
Responsibilities
Quality Control
Perform detailed reviews of commercial credit approvals, modifications, and annual reviews to assess accuracy, completeness, and adherence to underwriting and portfolio management standards.
Evaluate obligor and facility risk ratings for accuracy, consistency, and documentation support.
Draft quality control reports with observations and corrective action recommendations.
Partner with credit management teams to rectify issues and data inconsistencies.
Identify systemic issues and trends in credit practices, controls, or documentation and communicate findings to management.
Recommended and help implement process improvements.
Create and present to management updates on the status of remediation activities.
Contribute to the development and refinement of QC checklists, review framework, and scoring models.
Project Management
Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand purpose of the project, desired outcome as well as timing of deliverables.
Ensure all project documentation is conveyed to the relevant stakeholders on time.
Monitor and track outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables.
Assist in the planning and scheduling activities to fulfill identified objectives applying the technical and managerial skills to satisfy project requirements.
Manage any change requests from creation through completion of projects.
Track project plan performance to ensure timely delivery of all milestones and objectives.
Enforce integrated project plan to the appropriate level of detail and escalate when barriers present themselves.
Develop and deliver progress reports and presentations to project team and project sponsors.
If applicable, understand policies and procedures and how they relate to a specific project.
Generate new ideas and recommendations for continuous process improvement
Represent Webster Bank as a brand ambassador at business and charitable events
Participate in special projects on an as-needed basis
Education, Skills & Experience
Education: Bachelors degree
Experience: 2+ years of experience in financial services, preferably in a commercial credit underwriting, portfolio management, credit review, credit risk function
Understanding of credit analysis, cash flow modeling, loan structing, and collateral valuation
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and PowerPoint
Self-starter with project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Locations: New York: Manhattan, White Plains, Jericho; CT: Stamford, Hartford, New Haven; Massachusetts: Boston; Rhode Island: Providence; Option for hybrid schedule if deemed appropriate.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $86,000 USD to $95,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
