Heavy Shop Supervisor

We are looking for a skilled and reliable mechanic to join our team. You will work on Heavy equipment on and off-road, trailers, cars, vans, trucks, and other types of equipment. You will fix engines, brakes, hydraulic systems, and repair electrical systems on a variety of manufacturers. You will also keep records of your work using a computer.

  • Repair and maintain cars, trucks, and other equipment
  • Use scan tools and computers to find problems
  • Follow written and spoken instructions
  • Keep detailed records of the work you do
  • Help direct and guide lower-level mechanics
  • Weld, cut metal, and do small fabrication jobs
  • Fix gas, diesel, and electric engines
  • Use computer scanners to check engine issues
  • Diagnose and fix heating, cooling, and electrical systems
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams
  • Check and fix brakes, transmissions, steering, suspensions, and more
  • Inspect the shop for safety
  • Fix or replace tires and balance them
  • Communicate with coworkers and vendors
  • Work on special systems like TPMS, air brakes, hydraulic systems, and cranes
  • Prepare repair cost estimates
  • Help other shops when needed
  • Be available for on-call duty about 34 weeks per year
  • Operate a forklift when needed
  • Attend 2530 hours of training each year
You must have one of the following:
  • An Associates Degree in a related field (such as automotive or diesel technology),
    OR
  • Specialized training or courses equal to two years of college in a related area,
    AND
  • Two years of hands-on experience working on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
  • Note: A mix of education and experience will be considered as long as it adds up to the same level of knowledge and skill.
  • Valid Florida CDL Class B license with air brake endorsement.
  • Your own set of tools.

Preferred:

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications.
  • Experience with DPF and DEF exhaust systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Knowledge of diesel, gas, and electric systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair both small and large equipment
  • Good communication skills (speaking and writing)
