WHKS is seeking an Engineering Technician interested in working with a wide variety of challenging
engineering tasks both in the field and office. The candidate will work directly with licensed Land
Surveyors and Civil Engineers assisting them with design, development, and construction observation
of municipal, transportation, and other infrastructure projects. This is a full-time position and may
include some overnight travel.

Responsibilities include:
- Field survey duties including: boundary and topographic surveys, platting, and construction
staking for private and public projects.
- Technical drafting (CAD) support for survey, municipal, transportation, and structural-related
projects.
- Perform construction observation which may include:
- Verifying the quality of the contractor's work and compliance with the plans and
specifications.
Conducting field-required material testing.
Preparing and documenting material reports, test results and material sources.
Maintaining daily logs of inspections and reviewing any discrepancies with the
appropriate parties.
- Preparing and reviewing pay applications.
Required Qualifications:
- A working knowledge of engineering technology in the field of civil engineering/surveying
- 0 - 5+ years of experience in civil engineering field
- A valid driver's license
- Excellent computer and communication skills
- Experience with Civil 3D and/or Microstation
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field
- Experience with Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) projects
- MnDOT certifications
- Previous field survey, GPS, and/or Trimble Business Center experience
