ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safely and efficiently transports raw materials, finished products, and components to and from designated areas within the facility using forklifts, overhead cranes, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment. Crane rigging: May be involved in securing loads for crane lifts, requiring an understanding of crane operation, or providing support during lifting activities. Interprets work orders, blueprints, and shipping/receiving documents to stage materials appropriately for production or shipment. Maintains accurate inventory of incoming and outgoing materials using tracking systems. Assists in organizing and maintaining material storage areas for efficiency and safety. Supports machining and manufacturing teams by ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials to workstations. Inspects equipment and rigging gear for wear, damage, and safety compliance; reports issues promptly. Collaborates with shipping and logistics teams to prepare materials for outbound deliveries. Works closely with the production team to monitor material usage and anticipate replenishment needs. Loads and unloads material from trucks and delivery vehicles, ensuring all items are handled carefully to prevent damage. Collaborates with the quality department to identify and report damaged or defective materials. Helps maintain a clean and organized work environment to uphold quality and safety standards. Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate material flow and address any issues. Assists in training new employees on proper material handling procedures. Adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Reports any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly. Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Knowledge of safe rigging practices, load calculations, and potential hazards associated with crane operations. Currently holds Certification or the ability to pass our Company Forklift and Overhead Crane Certification. Understands crane operations, including: Safe lifting techniques and how to identify potential hazards. Knowledge and experience in properly preparing materials for lifting by attaching slings, shackles, or other rigging hardware to the load. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, load charts, and material handling instructions. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and operate material handling equipment. Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Apprenticeship or vocational training.
