Full time, 40 hours a week. Monday-Friday 830am-5pm. Will have to take call once a month.
Under the supervision of the Plant Operations Supervisor. Responsible for the day to day routine maintenance of all hospital equipment, to make repairs where needed and to complete special projects as necessary. Perform PM's as scheduled.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operate all job-related equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
- Maintain grounds and buildings
- Demonstrates the ability to make repairs to small motors, switches, outlets, lights and refer all repairs beyond their scope to the supervisor to obtain outside help when necessary.
- Demonstrates the ability to make repairs to plumbing fixtures, stools, sinks, sewer pipes, fresh water supply pipes as needed.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
- Make repairs as listed on the Environment of Care work log
- Maintain all air handling equipment
- Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations.
- Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development, and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs.

- Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
- Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
- Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head

Departmental Specific
- Must be familiar with all non-medical equipment in other departments. (Medical equipment repairs are referred to Bio-Medical Department of Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa
- Completes request for repairs in a prioritized manner
Other Skills
- Must possess basic carpentry, painting and floor care skills.
- Displays the ability, both verbally and in writing, to note unsafe acts or conditions and recommend appropriate action.
- Documents daily activities.
- Maintains Daily Log
- Documents PM completion on appropriate PM lists.
- Documents any unusual incidents and reports them to the appropriate individual
- Part of the on-call rotation for the Plant Operations department
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education [formal]:
High school diploma. AA degree desired but not required
Experience:
Experience must include familiarity with mechanical environmental systems, and some electrical experience is preferred. Should be familiar with motors, drives, mechanical equipment of all types installed in a hospital. Must also be familiar with recognized Safety procedures related to equipment repair and to comply with all OSHA standards as they relate to this worksite.
