Journeyman Electrician Job Description Join a dynamic team tasked with refurbishing, installing, and servicing a variety of circuit breakers and switchgear boxes for mining and utility companies. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be integral to ensuring the reliability of electrical systems across diverse locations. Responsibilities Dismantle, refurbish, and rebuild various circuit breakers and switchgear. Travel to different locations based on service calls. Perform electrical installation, including conduit, cable, and low/medium voltage switchgear. Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical systems indoors and outdoors. Work with low voltage and medium voltage systems ranging from 120v up to 46kv. Utilize electrical test meters such as megger, ammeters, hipot, and ductor. Read and understand electrical schematics and drawings. Maintain thorough knowledge of electrical theory and AC/DC power circuits. Travel for regular preventative maintenance and emergency projects. Perform control wiring installation using schematics and wiring diagrams with minimal assistance. Provide and maintain personal tools. Essential Skills Journeyman or equivalent experience. Knowledge and experience with motors, switchgear, transformers, controls, and variable frequency drives. Proficiency in electrical test meters. Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good customer relations skills and ability to remain calm during stressful situations. Additional Skills & Qualifications At least 5 years of electrical experience desired. Experience related to utility companies and heavy industry. Electrical education or certifications are a plus. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized. Self-starter with the ability to make quick decisions. Willingness to follow standard safety practices. History of reliability and dependability. Ability to work overtime as required.
