Job Description

Summary

Lead the design, integration, and validation of electrical power distribution and control systems for modular data center platforms. Ensure resiliency, scalability, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle, while enabling seamless integration with mechanical, structural, and controls subsystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and own electrical power architectures: medium/low-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, and emergency systems.
  • Lead grounding, fault analysis, arc-flash studies, and power quality validation in collaboration with controls and QA teams.
  • Oversee electrical package development: single-line diagrams, load flow studies, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Drive coordination with mechanical, structural, and controls teams for integrated architecture and installation.
  • Manage equipment selection and submittal reviews in partnership with suppliers and external vendors.
  • Participate in factory/site acceptance testing, energization planning, commissioning, and start-up support.
  • Apply engineering change governance via PEMS, including design reviews, change logs, and documentation control.
  • Interface with external consultants and permit authorities to ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and local regulations.
  • Mentor junior electrical engineers and oversee multiple data center projects simultaneously.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives: standardization, technical best practices, and EHS considerations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years experience in electrical engineering within mission-critical or data center environments, including ≥3 years in a technical leadership role.

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of power systems: medium/low-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS, ATS, PDU, DG sets.

• Proficiency in electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM) and single-line CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit).

• Strong grounding and bonding, fault current calculations, arc-flash assessments (NFPA 70E compliance).

• Experience with BIM platforms and CAD collaboration tools.

• Proven experience in managing multi-level BOMs and using ERP/PLM systems for part tracking and configuration.

• Familiarity with standards: NFPA, NEC, IEEE, IEC, and data center uptime guidelines.

• Experience reviewing equipment submittals and leading vendor/contractor discussions.

• Hands-on commissioning experience: energization, testing protocols, and site troubleshooting.

Managerial & Leadership Skills

• Proven leadership of cross-functional engineering teams in mission-critical environments.

• Strong communicator able to navigate technical discussions and manage stakeholder relationships.

• Ownership mentality with strong decision-making under pressure.

• Skill in mentoring and developing engineering staff.

• Good project leadership: multiple concurrent projects, timelines, risk management.

• Advocates standardization and continuous improvement—aligns team delivery with organizational goals.
