Summary

Launch your engineering career with a hands-on role in the design of water and wastewater treatment systems. As a Project Engineer I , you’ll support project teams and contribute to the development of practical engineering solutions. This entry-level position is ideal for those with a basic understanding of engineering principles, process plant design, and industry standards. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, helping to prepare technical designs and documentation that meet quality and safety requirements. It’s a great opportunity to build your skills, gain real-world experience, and be part of projects that support vital infrastructure. Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments.

Some of the work you will do:

  • Help execute engineering deliverables using industry acceptable methodologies, procedures, and practices to ensure designs are congruent with international, national and local standards and codes.
  • Assist in the preparation of Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Design Basis, Process Description, Operation Philosophy, and Startup Sequence.
  • Perform basic design tasks and calculations for several projects at a time, including hydraulic calculations & process equipment sizing calculations.
  • Ability to characterize and size piping and equipment and prepare and review process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Perform basic mass balance and chemical consumption calculations.
  • Aid in creating complete and clear design packages for use by internal and external customers.
  • Provide design assistance for all phases of the project.
  • Observe customer-facing conversations and contribute to cultivating a positive customer experience by supporting discipline leads and ensuring quality work.
  • Work with assigned mentor and manager to cultivate engineering skills and development.
  • Create and improve existing design tools, as directed.
  • Limited travel to client sites and project locations primarily for training/shadowing purposes, support with start-up/commissioning activities.

Here are the skills that you need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical/ Environmental Engineering preferred or, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering
  • Proficient with Excel, preferably familiar with Macros and VBA functionality
  • Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated with detailed and complete follow-through

Here are the skills and qualifications that will set you apart:

  • Master’s Degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering
  • License: FE license
  • Experience in the water/wastewater industry
  • Knowledge of industry standards like ASTM, PIP, ISO, among others
  • Exposure to preparation of Process Engineering packages on different phases (Feasibility, Concept, FEED, Detailed Design) for Process Plants

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at a computer workstation and use a phone for extended periods
  • Regularly required to move about the office and interact with team members
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
